She's going down!

So, they took down Ogg Hall and left a kinda oddly shaped greenspace in it's place. Clearly drainage wasn't on their mind, as the lower half almost immediately filled with water. The first dozen times (last summer and this summer) they would pump the water out and replace the sod (never, it seems, fixing the drainage problems.)

It flooded again last month, and they just left it (maybe in hopes of having a skating rink over winter?) .. Someone (art students, perhaps?) decided to build a sinking steamship in it.

Moonwalk Only

Alternately, "Breakdance only."

Naturally, the small sign was at the end of a hallway leading to the bathrooms.. The only way to read it was after walking across the floor that you shouldn't have walked on...

Smokin' With Superman at The Annex

It was an awesome show, sorry if you missed it. In any case, I've posted my photos on my website.

Smokin with Superman

If you haven't heard of Smokin', you should have. As Donald Duck Dunn said in The Blues Brothers, they are a band powerful enough to turn goat piss into gasoline. It's impossible to describe their sound. Part hip-hop, jazz, ska, reggae, lots of funk. You have to listen to it. Easily my favorite band since the heyday of Natty Nation back before J-Max died.

Smokin's website (smokinwithsuperman.com) has been stolen by domain pirates (so I'm not linking here). Brett Farrey has a list of ways to find them in his blog. There's always their MySpace site or you can buy their excellent CD Full Price on CD Baby.

Over on my photo site, I've finally gotten around to posting photos from Strollers Theater production of Noises Off. The show only closed three weeks ago.

Guild of Professional Englisth Butlers

Guild of Professional Englisth Butlers

Noticed this when I was checking how nice places like Hamanasi Resort or Turneffe Island Lodge in Belize, Oualie Beach Resort in Nevis or Tiamo Resort on South Andros Island in the Bahamas compare price-wise with the behemouth, gut wrenching resorts like Sandals (Although, they aren't as bad as Couples, at least.) It turns out that among the Luxury Included features Sandals provides is Butler Service from graduates of the Guild of Progessional Englisth Butlers.

A Rude Christian

I'd forgotten about this one... Last November, a rude Christian called me at work. (A wrong number, of course.)

Nice Delivery

So, I'm riding my bike down the street, minding my own business....

When I come across a Glass Nickel Pizza delivery car double-parked, blocking an entire lane of traffic. Now, I'm all for pizza delivery being the top priority users of the road, and Glass Nickel is one of the best pizza places in Madison (it may be the best -- depends on my mood) BUT in this case, he was completely blocking one direction, and he wasn't even as close to his destination as possible!

You'll note the destination house on the left, with ample parking immediately in front. Even if he didn't want to turn around or park illegally the wrong way, he could park one car length further down the street in his direction of travel.

That is all.

What To Do With Your Butts...

My friend Tom Jordan always used to point out that "all signs are there for a reason" -- Someone once did the thing mentioned on the sign.

This post (theoretically) starts a new series for this blog of signs that I think are so incongruous I have to post them before I explode.

In this case, a sign at the Select Inn in Waukesha noting where we should not place our garbage.
